Choose your first AI workflow

Start with a recurring task, a clear owner and a useful measure.

skillsnest.aus October 10, 2026

A practical first workflow is small enough to understand and important enough to improve. Look for recurring work with recognisable inputs, a clear output and someone who can judge its quality. Examples might include preparing a first draft, organising incoming requests or assembling information for a review.

Describe the current task before selecting a tool. Record the people involved, the information they need, the decisions they make and the exceptions they handle. Identify which parts can be assisted and where human judgement must remain explicit.

Choose a bounded trial. Agree an owner, approved information, a review standard and a stop condition. Compare the total effort with the original process, including checking and correction. Expand only when the evidence and the people doing the work support the next step.
